how to get coffee stains out?

What a great morning I had.For once I was leaving 5 minutes before schedule for work this morning (I'm usually at the last minute) on my way to the car I spill my coffee on my beige summer dress Got back inside and changed.I rinced the dress very quickly and off i went to work. Now I put some ZOUT on it (stain remover) and put the dress in the washing machine. It did nothing, the dress has died  Is there anything I can do?Other than a proper burial that is

here are some solutions i found... never tried them though, sorry..

Quote:
Method One - Commercial Stain Remover
Saturate the dirty area with pretreatment laundry stain remover. Wait one minute for the product to penetrate the stain. Launder immediately.

Method Two - Vinegar
To remove coffee (and chocolate stains), mix one teaspoon of white vinegar in one quart of cold water. Sponge on stain and wipe clean.

Method Three - Egg Yolk Solution
Mix the yolk of an egg and a few drops of alcohol with a little warm water. Rub mixture on the stain with a sponge.

Method Four - Baking Soda
Sprinkle a little baking soda on a wet dishcloth to quickly remove coffee and tea stains.

Of the four methods, commercial stain removers do the best job. The other three are effective if you don't have access to laundry supplies -- a restaurant, for instance.

One final tip: if posssible never let a coffee stain set. The more dry the stain, the more rotten your chances are of removing it.

Vinegar again!!

My dad is convinced of the all mighty benefits of vinegar. He cooks, cleans, disinfects everything in vinegar. His whole house smells of vinegar.

I installed his a/c in my house. When i turned it on, the smells of vinegar shot through the house.

I'd try the vinegar, F! There are no coffee stains on my dad's shirts.

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!! Good Luck!! Sorry... I'm actually laughing at myself. Our dress code at work involves white collared or polo shirts... I have gone through sooo many of them because of coffee stains. Nothing gets them entirely out.

As a last resort, soak the whole dress in coffee. You'd just get a darker beige dress out of it.

lol - Glasslass I love your idea!! It actually sounds like it would work. I'd try the vinegar first though. I find when I use Shout on stains it says to spray and wash right away but I let it sit overnight first - that may not be good with an acidic vinegar though.

And don't forget WHERE i work! Not to mention the black pants/skirt/shorts we have to wear.... good? no... the other day I had just steamed a litre of milk to a perfect microfoam, at 190 F, and what happens? I knock the entire thing over all over myself. Then there's the bloody mocha syrup... ALWAYS get that all over my shirt..... all I can say is thank god for green aprons... I should wear one everywhere I go..

Thanks TD for the "recipes",I tried 2 of them. For future references;they don't work!(or maybe they do but right after the spill) I've tried the vinager and water and the backing soda.So I will dye my dress black (like I don't have enough black already ) and will make sure to wear black while I'm dying it!

Frenchy, I'm feeling your pain right now. I took off my apron for two minutes today, and during that time, I spilt a quad allonge espresso all over myself (that would be 4 long shots of espresso) and then a large chai tea (black tea stains as much as coffee).... soo my shirt is dead, and I don't even want to mention the burns I got on the insides of my thighs from it.

Removing coffee stains from Hailey's Hints

I found this in Hailey's Hints and it sounds as if it may just work:

"Spray the area with hairspray. Rub with a bar of soap and rinse in cold water." Warm and hot water will just set the stain so trying what is suggested may be the key.

Why don't you get the dress professionally cleaned and show them where the stain is. Maybe they have some cleaners that can take the stain out?
