Drontal-the tapeworm medication for cats-question

so the 4 cats got a dose of tapeworm meds tonight. funny enough everyone was pretty submissive and took the pill without much incident. i didn't even have to use the towel method!!

but here's my question: my nina was the last to go and of course she clamped down on her jaws and it was funny (even at the time) how she thought i might not get your to open her mouth...but in the struggle, we would get the pill into her mouth and she would obviously spit it out (apparently they taste really gross-and oops, i got some in my mouth between handling the pill and tuna...and yes, it was gross...) well after a couple of times in and out of the mouth, she started to foam...and then drool.

1)is this pill supposed to make them foam at the mouth like that if they don't swallow right away??

2)also, i think i may have read somewhere that this pill may cause throwing up. does anyone know if this is true?

the only unfortunate thing about my med administering did not result in a funny story for you all!

Drontal is a broad spectrum wormer, with very few and mild side effects. Cats should not vomit, but may show a brief lack of appetite.

The foaming at the mouth is probably from the taste of the pill. I had to give my cat a pill and fumbled it. It tasted so bad, he not only foamed and salivated, but ran around the house frantically, trying to escape the taste.

Hmmm...I seem to recall someone having a similar reaction to a Tylenol crushed into applesauce....lol....me!!!!
I always feel so guilty when I don't get the pill down the first time, because we all know how tasty pills are!

If it is bitter enough they will induce themselves to vomit. Happened to me too.
