solution!!!!
Hey guys,
It's 11:33 am over here in Ontario and I have been busy working and reading your postings. I came up with a solution for my training. Luba, you taught me that you can't train a dog to go outside and then pee inside on a pad, it's confusing. I work at a scrapyard from 8am-5pm all day and can't get anyone to walk my pug. So...I can have two crates - one at home and one at work, so no peeing inside at all what do you think? Could it work? |

yaaa... that'll work
but make sure u give your dog enough exercise and stimulation when s/he's out of the crate! and keep it closed ONLY as a learning tool... u won't have to keep the dog in there once it's house-broken. ... here's a question tho, are you going to take u'r dog with you to work on a long-term basis or only until its house broken? |

Right wAggie - I've seen puppies spend literally 20 hours out of 24 in a crate. This is abuse, and a definite no-no. (Not saying YOU are doing this brandie!)

That sounds like an excellent solution to your problem.
I would like to say, however, that it would be fine to leave him in the crate when you are unable to keep an eye on him. Especially at work. I am assuming that your dog is a puppy. Puppies can get into many things, as can older dogs, and some of those things can be life threatening. I am not advocating keep in the dog in the crate for the entire day, but having a safe place to keep him while you are busy is fine.

another solution
Hey guys!! You have awesome advice all of you. But I looked into something I wasn't sure to be possible. Litter training - from paper to litter box. He has just managed to get used to going only on the paper so I might try a slow transition into a litter box. I thought more about taking Tallo with to work but he may get hurt with the scrap around the yard (work at a scrapyard) and I cherish my two pets like children. I'm going to give it a try a see how it goes. By the way... I got the idea from, you guessed it, your forum. Ever grateful for the advice. Brandie
