Shaky pug

I think I may have posted this incorrectly so I am doing
it again under pet health forum in hopes of getting more
interest. Please be patient, I am new at this. I love my dogs
not my computer.

I was given a new 4mo old pug, Bella. About 2 weeks after I
got her she started shaking in her front right paw. It the progressed
to her right side, front and back. Now it is in all her paws. I have
noticed that when she stands still there is a twitch in her right
rear hip. She is fine when she runs, plays and torments Smeagol
our 20 month old pug. She eats good and seems very happy with
us. It is worse when she is at rest and even when she is sleeping.
It does seem to lessen but still remains in a deeper sleep. My vet
has never seen this and said as long as she was happy and healthy
not to worry about it. I makes me sad to see her, especially when
she is sleeping and I wonder if she is resting soundly and if it bothers
her. I changed her food to Beneful when I first got her. I gave her Frontline
Plus and wormed her. I can't think of any other things it could be.

Please help,
Kelly and Bella

It does not sound normal to me but I am not a vet.

Personally, if this vet has never seen this, someone has. I would not settle for this and would be asking for a second opinion.

If this has progressed from one leg, to her whole body now - I would definitely be seeking a second opinion. Perhaps from a neurological specialist. Sometimes trembling like that can indicate that some kind of toxin has entered her system. Did your vet do any bloodwork?

You might also look at our dog food forum. Beneful is a low quality food IMO. The pretty pictures on the bag are all advertising gimmicks. The first ingredient is corn - and in the first five ingredients the only meat protein sources are chicken by-products and "animal" fat. If your pugs problems developing coincided with the food change, then perhaps she is reacting to something in the food. Here are the first 5 ingredients.
Ground yellow corn, chicken by-product meal, corn gluten meal, whole wheat flour, animal fat preserved with mixed-tocopherols (form of Vitamin E)
