Litter Box for Dogs??

Dear Friends,

I recently had a cat but sadly found that I was allergic and developing asthsma. I am now lonely without my cat and would like to get a dog (I am not allergic to dogs) I live in an apartment in the city and want to know if you can train a smaller dog to use a litter box like cats do. I work and don't have a lot of time for walking a dog. Could he be trained to use a litter box in the house?

Yes, most definately. However, the dog needs to be a very small dog. I have some members of our family that have a long-haired chihuahua and another with a mini daschund. Both of these dogs use a litter box with no problems at all.

Yes, my mother in law had her toy poodle and Chihuahua litterbox trained, but they must be females so there is no leg-lifting.
