excessive drooling

I have a female german shorthaired pointer puppy, she's about 5 months old and is teething. Just recently she has started drooling an excessive amount. We called the vet. and he mentioned it could be something stuck to the roof of her mouth, but upon checking it doesn't appear to be that. I was wondering if anyone could confirm the suspicion (and the hope) that it might be a temporary problem related to teething.
