Now that Martin is alone in the garage, I thought i'd give him a break and let him visit for the day.

Martin is one handsome boy. Have you talked the garage owners into keeping him yet?

The garage people don't mind keeping him as long as he lives in the garage. That means outside in the day, in the garage at night.

But Martin is very attached to humans and needs either another cat or a doting human with him. I can't see him adjusting to a life without a human.

I've also noticed that Martin won't eat when he is alone but only in the company of another cat or human. Very cute and strange.

Hello,

I can get in contact with one of our rescues groups that knows someone who takes in Cats like Martin. I am in work on Monday. It might take a couple of days for her to get back to me. Only problem is I live in Ontario..about 45 mins from Toronto. I see you live in Montreal. I don't know were exactly the lady lives who takes in cats like Martin. But I can find out on Monday. What do you think?

Well, when I brought Martin over for a visit, I realized that Martin is very much a lapcat. He followed me everywhere and just kept trying to climb into my arms (even with warmed roasted chicken a few feet away).

A few years ago, something quite disastrous happen to a beautiful cat named Louise after I placed her in a place where I KNEW she wouldn't do well. And I placed her there for the sake of placing her somewhere ignoring my instinct.

It has become quite clear to me that this casanova cat claims his humans as his own. Being a very clingy cat, I dont think he`ll fair well with too much competition.

I am grateful for the opportunity of placing Martin in her home ( i'm glad the option is there). But Martin's best case scenario is a home with a family ( with at most one female submissive non-territorial cat).

The garage people are now letting him roam the house for a few hours a day. But they have to lock up their NASTY, NASTY, NASTY shihtzu who has so far taken a bite out of everyone I know.

So I`m gonna hold off as long as I can for that perfect match.

Thanks AOCC

He sounds like such a great cat. There has to be someone out there that can give him the forever home he deserves.

Chico

No, i think about them often but I won't call to check up on them since I can't really impose my ideals on them and tell them what to do.

They were nice enough to give them shelter, I'm assuming they are nice enough to watch for their well being.

C-S,I understand how you feel, hopefully they are doing ok
As for Martin,I wish he did not have to live alone in a garage,he needs cuddles and love.
I was hoping these people would warm up to him,but if they have a not so nice little dog,I suppose that will not happen:sad:
I am not bitching, after all I cannot offer any help,I just wish there is someone out there, who would love this little guy

I would take him if he was here in Idaho

I would not mind having this cat to live among my ferals in my garage or porch or basement but I am having surgery soon and I cannot come to get him myself

Top 10 reasons why Martin is a cat with character:

10. When we open a bag of cat food. He dives into the bag. DIVES IN, people! (I'm gonna get this on video)

9. When Martin wants to be picked up he spreads his arms apart like a 4 year old. ( I swear)

8. When he is in your arms, Martin doesn't just sit in your arms, he plays dead. ( he doesnt use one muscle to hold himself up)

7. Martin never sits, he sprawls

6. When Martin first met my cats, he strolled passed them like he possessed the power of invisibility.

5. Martin refuses to eat unless he has company.

4. Martin never eats a full meal without taking multiples beaks.
a.He'll eat a few bites.
b.Jump in your lap purring and kissing your face
c. Repeats steps a and b.

3. Martin prefers dog food to cat food, comes when you call him, meows back when you talk to him, sits on command, plays dead...WTF!!

2. Martin thinks every lap belongs to him and behaves as though every man, woman and child is "THE CHOSEN ONE".

1. Martin doesn't realize he's homeless

If I lived back there I would take Martin in a heartbeat. He is definitely going to make someone a very lucky owner.

Martin is still available for adoption.

He is great with other cats. He's very submissive, very friendly but doesn't belong in a home with dogs.

Any news yet? I know it is already two months ago that you tried to get him a home. A thought came to mind that you could try your local old age homes. Good luck.

Awwwwww, I've been wondering about Martin. (also wonder if the kittens found good homes - the ones mentioned in the 1st post).

What about a home that already has an FIV positive kitty. There is a wonderful blog by a British family (the cat writes the blog - kind of like YY's blog that is just soooooooooo outdated, lol) and this cat writes every week and is going quite well - spends time at the vet but is living a fine life.

He writes extremely well -can be quite humorous at times. Here is the ul- - it's best to begin at the first entry and work your way to the present, otherwise, some of the stuff may not make sense.

www.siliconhell.com/madcat/diaryindex.htm

Note: For some unknown reason I do not have time fix just ye, my copy and paste routine is not working on this computer - will ave to figure it out at some point tho, sigh!! It's a nucience! So, if the url doe snot work, it's my notoriously bad typing - type in diary of a mad cat in google and he should come up - tho pick the one with a black cat named JACK.

So ya want the good news or the bad?

 The bad news:

Martin is no longer up for adoption.

Since Martin has left the vet's office, he's gotten an ear infection, an eye infection and his gums are getting redder... and something weird is now happening in his stomach. His FIV may be starting to act up. And so he's in no condition to be adopted out and I'm not quite sure how much worst or better he will get.

The good news:

Martin is no longer up for adoption.

He's gonna live out the rest of his days here with us. The only unfortunate thing is my dog just won't accepting him. Martin tries to avoid him as much as possible but my dog is always ready to chase him away. But my cats have stopped hissing and have accepted him and they play together all day. Martin likes to hide in my tub and jump on top of a passing unsuspecting cat. He cuddles on a warm king size bed and gets lots of lovin' from the humans.

I see now that he's a very submissive cat with many battle scars, which is probably why he caught FIV when he was discarded to the streets.

But until his body finally betrays him, his submissive nature has ensured him a permanent family with a warm and safe home, the company of playful cats and human representatives to speak for him.

PS> CK: All of Martin's offsprings (and his li'l Lolita) have all been adopted.

I am sorry to hear he's sick, hopefully something unrelated to his FIV and it can be cured
I know you usually cannot keep the many kitties you rescue in your home, but I am soooo happy for Martin,he's in the best home possible as long as doggie leaves him alone
Martin you are one beautiful boy and FIV aside,a very lucky boy
