Just got a pup

So my sister's golden retriever just gave birth to a few pups last month, and she decided to let me take care of one of them.

Of course, she does help me, but I didn't want to depend on her 100% of the time, so I'm gonna be asking a few questions.

1) What shots should I get the pup?
2) How old should the pup be before I give him his shots?
3) When can the pup stop feeding from its mum, and start eating food?
4) What kind of food should I give him?
5) Is it recommended that I microchip the pup, or should I just chill with the dog tracker my sister gave me?
6) Do you think Atlas is a good name for the pup?

Now I won't be able to check the forums regularly, but thanks in advance for the answers you guys

Welcome to the board.

A pup should be with its mum and litter for at least 8, if not 12, weeks. Is the pup still nursing or are you bottle-feeding? Nursing is much better--mom makes more nutritious milk. Staying with littermates will teach the pup some manners, as well, so if at all possible, best to keep it with mom for a while longer.

As for shots, best to consult with a veterinarian about vaccination schedule. They'll give your pup an examination to assess its health, both to see if its healthy enough to vaccinate and to see if its okay to start weaning it. Some pups do better if they nurse longer.

Regardless of the food you use, do some research and make sure it's high-quality.

Good luck with your pup. And if you get a chance, we'd love to see some pics!

Frist you need to post a picture of your puppy ! Pleases

If you have a natural pet store close by that would be the best place to buy food for your puppy and made sure any toys you buy aren't from China .

Is your puppy a boy ?
