Dog Erection

I have a 2yr old German Shepherd. Every time he sits down he gets an erection. It sometimes looks quite painful but it doesnt seem to bother him. I have had dogs before but never noticed anything like this. Is this normal?

Yeah, it's normal. As long as there is no infection present - green discharge or bad smell - not much you can do about it!

Is he neutered?

Forgot to say - the penis should withdraw easily back into the sheath when he stands up, and not get "stuck".
