I wish my Retriever would defend himself against some 7# ankle biter attack. It's the human that saved him 9 out of 10 times.

I saw it on the news last night we heard the little boy on the phone , telling the news how proud he was of his dog

it got me scared a bit , last year I saw a dead cougar by the side of the road here. I couldn't believe it but made some research and found out some of them are coming here from the Adirondack in Vermont. and I heard of another sighting too, again in my area.

I saw it on the news last night too - awesome! We live and walk in cougar country and have only had one encounter from which we just walked away - got into a subdivision then ran like h###.

Angel is definitely a hero!

I heard the story headliner but then fell asleep. So at work, I logged into CTV's website and watch the article. I called my fellow co-workers over to my desk and we all got goosebumps.

What an absolute Angel was. It looks like she'll recover too.

I just wanted to point out in case anyone missed it - Angel is only 18 months old - just a pup & she, by instinct alone, was staying close by the boys' side the entire time he was outside, not acting at all like her usual bouncy playful puppy self, she knew something was out there.

A lesson for all of us - pay attention to what your pets are trying to tell you.

I caught that.
Not only was she brave but very lucky.she lived up to her name and her actions showed her love for her human.

I think this dog is also incredible but I have to comment that I doubt very much that I would hide in a house and let a cougar try to eat my dog . I'm pretty sure I would have armed myself with a shovel or something (hose was right there as well) and tried to get the cat out of there.

I agree ....Angel is one amazing puppy but I know I would have been out there trying to fend off the cougar as well.

And, then there was this mom from Burns Lake BC that chased off a cougar with a dish towel ....
