You got that right, Rainbow! Right on schedule.

Fat Huey is losing a little weight now that I've switched them from dry Science Diet to canned Natural Balance

Actually - on that subject, I have some really good news. Sultan (the gray kitty in the picture) was diagnosed with the beginning stages of diabetes last month So, before going straight to insulin injections, our vet agreed to let us try to get her glucose level under control by adjusting her diet for four weeks and then bring her back to recheck her. It worked!! No need for injections at this point! We'll continue to get her checked every other month.

Yes, very lucky. She's my husband's baby....he would've been devistated if we had to give her injections
She's 13 yrs old, he's had her for almost that long (before we met).
I brought the two other kitties into our "blended family" lol. Then we got the dog together.

Greaterdane, those are fantastic shots!!!! Amazing how some of you can get so close to your pets for their photo ops without them attempting to lick the camera to death!!!

So, did you feed the canned Natural Balance to Sultan too and it was that that brought her glucose levels down?

LOL I dont think any of them have tried to lick the camera. They've gotten to the point where they glare at me and walk away. Gizmo the chocolate guy in the pics, usually runs and hides. I have to be very sneaky and try not to use the zoom. I give all the credit to canon for the shots, thank gosh it takes a good quick picture

Sorry to hijack the thread guys, but I'm very excited about this...I'll stop after responding to Rainbow

Rainbow,
When Sultan was diagnosed the vet told us that we should try switching her from the dry Science Diet R/D that she was on (and so were the other two) to canned Science Diet M/D that's supposed to be great for cats with glucose level issues. Well, we all know what I feel about Science Diet at this point! So, I did a lot of research on cat foods and came up with a few I wanted to try out on Sultan. The vet's main point was that she should not be on dry, high-carb foods because that's probably what's causing her sugar levels to be out of control (hmmmm...how interesting considering my vet's office SELLS Science Diet dry). So - to kill two birds with one stone, I switched all three cats to canned, natural food because the other two are over weight (especially Huey, obviously). We've been feeding the R/D because the vet said it would help them lose weight.

So, I tried Nutra's Natural Choice canned (several flavors), and DVD's Natural Balance (multiple flavors). They were so-so about the Natural Choice, but they LOVE the N. Balance!! Especially the Venison & Green Peas.
I just got VERY strict with their diets. Three times/day, the same time every day, the same amount and I linger over them like a hawk now to make sure they're not eating eachother's leftovers & to make sure the dog doesn't sneak in and gulp it all up.

Got Sultan retested - and her levels were down to normal! I'm no vet, but I'm just assuming it must be the food switch!

I'm sorry too but just a quick reply. Shaggy Rudy, thanks for doing all the research so you could get Sultan off the Science Diet. And, so glad to hear that the NB has brought her glucose levels down. You are a good mom.

Now....back to the close-up kissy faces.

Thanks Rainbow,

Yes Brandy is a true rock hound she loves to dig huge holes and excavate rocks no matter what size they are, her nose is always dirty, had to clean it off this morning before she went to the vet, don't want him to think she is a dirty dog!

Beautiful pics!!
I love the shot of Emma and her pollen face.
You all have gorgeous pets, I'm sure they are all pathetically spoilt and live like kings and queens, I know mine do.
You know they're spoilt when they're moms and dads take time out of their day to show them off on the internet!

Anyway, good work people...I want to see more pics!!
As for me I am going to take advantage of the nice weather we are having today and go take some snaps of the doggies.
Have a great day y'all.
