Longest Adjustment time

Hi All - Just curious about something,

Although Twiggy (13 years old female) and Nuda (3 years old female) are tolerating each other better, they are still not as friendly as we would like.

We are realistic - it might never happen.....but sometimes it just takes a long while and that's the side we're letting our hope fall on

So for those of you with lots of cat experience - what's the longest you've seen before 2 cats eventually became friends.

Thx as always!!

Marko you may be correct they may never be best friends but can I pry and ask what is happening. I am guessing you are worried about Twiggy since she was there first and older...Tolerating is one thing but I think sometimes bringing a new one in can make the older one lets say not happy at all. Do you feel that Twiggy is unhappy.

In our home I have not gone to get a cat because of Sophie. Sophie is way to hyper and has some prey drive. We didnt have a cat for very long after getting Sophie...my sweet Tabitha passed away shortly after Sophie arrived. It showed us though how Sophie would be..Our situation is different cat vs dog but Tabitha was 18yrs old as well and her health wasnt good. She was quite stressed with Sophie and I felt a lot of guilt over how unhappy she seemed.

No, it's really not that bad - I just want them to be better buds.
All our other cats have snuggled together....it's just nicer.
But when Nuda approaches Twiggy, 90% of the time Twiggy will hiss or have a negative reaction.

I should say that they spend hours at the window on separate perches that are just 6 inches from one another.... so they can be near each other with no issue...

Occasionally/Rarely..(.and usually after a bath when their scents have been washed ) Nuda will give Twiggy a few licks and she will accept.... but it's rare.

Yup so that's it.... I know some people have said it can take years and maybe never....and really we just got Nuda last summer...... buuuut who wants to wait years?

Will it be due to the age difference?
It also some time for twiggy to have someone around to play with.
