Unhappy My dogs ear is bleeding

My 2 year old dog 's ear has been bleeding and she is shaking her head alot but she is not wining or crying in pain. The blood seens to be comming from far inside her ear, the skin on the inside of her ear is pinker then usual. She has been on antibiotics for a week but it seems to be getting worse and the antibiotics are finished, now what do i do? Does she have an ear infectiong or is it something eles?

I suggest you call your vet and get her back in....

Usually with ear infections there is an odor...

Was she on antibiotics for her ear...did the vet look way down there?
Agree with Mona, if it's an infection there's usually a smell. Maybe there's something stuck in there...have you looked real carefully to make sure there's not a cut on her ear somewhere?

eat mites - longshot

Just a shot in the dark here...

But the blood you talk about, it it fresh or dried?

Possibility-If it's dried (it isn't blood but it may look like blood)it could be a sign of ear mites.

If so, here is some good info on ear mites. http://www.pets.ca/pettips/tips-31.htm

Let us know,

Ophelia

My Dal has very bad ear infections. It will leak blood and puss. It's also a yeast infection.

The vet put her on Surlan and I had to clean the ear constantly with cotton pads but on occasion with an ear cleaner that had "NO" Acholol in it as it will hurt their ear.

I was alos told that the infection/ yeast infection could be from allergies. But what I'm finding (hey i could be wrong here) My girl loves to be right up at the heater....head almost against it..she also loves to be under the covers and gets over heated. Thats when the infections are occuring.

I check daily for dirt or any signs the infection will be back. But first either Take the pup back to that vet or better yet go for a second opinion.

Good luck
