loving home awaits small dog

Hello,
I would love to welcome a small yorkie terrier into my home. I am searching for a yorkie as they shed very little due to their hair. Either my husband or myself is home all day to keep our newest addition company. We have 3 indoor cats, that are all neutered and declawed. As well we have 2 sons, a 10 yr old and a 7 year old who have been raised to be respectful of our animals since birth.
If anyone knows or a small dog that doesn't shed(ok well barely compared to other breeds and I've found yorkie's to shed the least thus far), in search of a new home, please contact me anytime. I live about 1 hr outside Toronto but can drive anywhere.
Sex doesn't matter, would prefer a neutered dog, but a pup will be fine too.
Please call or email me anytime.

Are your cats used to dogs? Very small dogs can be severely injured by cats, and yorkies, being terriers, are often not good with cats either.

Check out Canadian Dachshund Rescue too. They are based in Toronto. Doxies are low allergy dogs with their hair (vs fur) and Cdn D Rescue also gets in mixes (Shrek yorkie mix, recently adopted).

Chis can be pretty good as well. try www.ccrt.net Canadian Chihuahua Rescue and Transport they have little ones looking for homes but might not adopt to people with children under 12, I cant remember. Bichons are also very good, had one for 15 years growing up, they have fur similar to a lamb and he never shed, but he was groomed 2 times a month and brushed 3 times a week. They are better with children because they are larger then a yorkie, still breakable but less likely to be trampled.

If you are not too set on a Yorkie, you should look into a Bichon. I grew up with three bichons and the shedding was very minimal which was the reason we got them (my dad is very allergic). They are sweet dogs and probably more robust than a Yorkie. My mom does in-home daycare and there were never any problems with any of the dogs and the children. Good luck!

There is a mix Yorkie/ Norfolk named Kia on petfinder.com in Ontario. There is also a pure bred Yorkie at the TO Humane Society (see him at petharbor.com), lastly there are quite a few listed at deafdogs.org.
Hope you find your little guy.
