Question auto immune syndrome

Hey, how's it going? My sister's dog (huskymalmute/wolf mix), was on death's door due to auto immune syndrome. Please explain how the dog got this. Also, if she doesn't respond to medication and T cells are not right after treatment, it might be bone marrow cancer. What is this connection and if she gets better, what to do in order to not get this illness again.
Thanks!
Debra
