Coda Needs A Loving Home, Montreal, QC.

Coda is a large, sweet, Flat Coated Retriever, approximately 1 year old. He's been with us at the SPCA Monteregie since early December, 06. He is great with dogs and cats and loves affection. He's been both neutered and vaccinated. If you, or someone you know, can provide this wonderful boy a loving forever home, please consider coming to meet him. (Visits: Thursdays & Saturdays between 2 and 4pm)

I'm trying to wear hubby down...but no luck...

I love flat-coated retrievers...and I think he'd look lovely mingling with the Pack but hubby seems to think that 6 is enough right now...

How big is he, poodletalk? Big enough to hold his own against our rowdy 64-pounder?

He is gorgeous, and to see him in person, he's even cuter!!

I had a dog just like him for 17 years - his name was Boubou and he was the sweetest, best dog in the world. If Coda is anything like Boubou, his new family will be the luckiest people in the world!!!!!!!!!!

Coda really is an . I spent some time with him last week and he's just a big teddy bear. I'd say he weighs about 70 lbs or so. When people come to adopt however, some think a large retriever would be a lot of work. It's unfortunate because he'd make the best companion. that the right family will come along soon.

Coda's new home

Hello everyone, Coda has been with us for 1 hour, everything went well, Balou reacted well...Hubby and daughter fell in love with Coda instantly (as I expected!) Once home, Coda is quiet and sniffing everything...Now, I'm thinking where should Coda sleep tonight? Balou sleeps in our room, anyway If any of you have some advice on introducing a new dog to another feel free!!! We all knew, when we saw Coda's picture that he was to become part of our family!

Congratulations Corinne and family. I am so happy to hear that you've adopted Coda.

If Coda and Balou are getting along why not let Coda sleep in your room too? And, don't forget we want to see pics of them both soon.

Way to go! Poodletalk! and Coco350!!!....I am so glad you adopted Coda! It really didnt matter about the appointment after all! Do you have a crate for Coda? he may already be used to being crated and that may make it easier for you in the long run?

Coda

Congratulations on adopting Coda. Is he housetrained? If not, you may want to put him in the kitchen or somewhere where the floor is easy to clean. If he is housetrained and he is getting along with Balou then there should be no problem letting him sleep in your bedroom. I would suggest two dog beds and that you show him where his is. My dogs have a bed on either side of our bed. If we have a foster we put another bed at the foot of our bed. When we go up to bed they all know their places.
One other thing I do with fosters is put up a baby gate at my bedroom door for the first few nights. I find that they are sometimes stressed and the gate keeps them in my room and they settle down quickly. I also worry that because they are new may fall down the stairs because they are not aware they are there.

6 hours with Coda!

Coda was sleeping in a crate, and I do not have one, so I guess he will sleep with us So far, I've noticed that he is wrestless, I thought maybe because of the deworming pills? As for if he is trained to do is business outside, well, he had two accidents since his arrival, I think he is a tad anxious and will eventually get used to the surrondings and us. He tends to avoid Balou, and we've put all the toys away to prevent any fighting over them...It's been only half a day and already we just love him so much!
Thanks for all the great advice. Will keep you in touch!
Corinne

He will need time to settle in, he was at the spca for more than 3 months, but don't worry, usually they are so happy to be in their forever home, they only want to please. If you're not sure about the 2 dogs together (even if you are) I suggest separating them if nobodys home during week days (like tomorrow) If you can, babygate a room, until they get use to eachothers.

Congrats on the new addition . I am so glad someone finally snatched up such a sweetheart . It will take a few days for him to settle in and relax but I'm sure he'll fit in just great.

Would love to see some pics when you get a chance .
