Cat Allergy or Intolerance to Beef

I've been feeding my four cats and puppy a raw meat diet for almost a month now. They love it; however, I think one of my cats may have developed an allergy or intolerance to beef.

She's had beef before and had no problems. She used to enjoy it. But, a couple days ago, I had to coax her to eat it. She later vomited and had diarrhea. Thankfully, it didn't last long. She's back to eating raw chicken again, and is having no problems.

So, I think she may have an intolerance or an allergy to beef? I'm not sure...

My pets are currently being fed commercial raw patties, but I plan on making my own soon.

I was planning on grinding whole chicken with organs. I wanted to use beef hearts, but I'm assuming that's probably not a good idea if my cat can no longer eat beef.

Any thoughts?

It certainly wouldn't be unusual for a cat to develop an intolerance or allergy to beef. One of mine did. I would steer clear of any beef products for a while for that cat. Maybe down the road you can try again, but there are lots of other protein sources to choose from. Also, what are the other ingredients in the commercial product you're using? One of those might be part of the problem. One way to test would be to give your cat just a piece or 2 of fresh plain beef muscle meat and see what happens.

I'll do as you suggested and give her a couple pieces of raw beef muscle in a few weeks and see how she does.

The commercial patties that my cats are eating contain vegetables and organs. But, the vegetables are the sames as the ones in the chicken patties, so I don't think my cat is allergic to those. I don't plan on adding vegetables when I start making my own raw meals for the cats.
