Now that Cuddles is gone ....
.... we've had to give Perkins(ACD) some new friends for company during exercise time. He has always adored little Silk(sheltie) but sometimes she finds him a bit too much. I think in her third photo she is doing her impression of the Sphinx.

She's a pretty girl, GF. Love that look she's throwing back over her shoulder at Perkins. "Back off, buster! This is your Queen barking!"

She IS the Queen too, Hazel, has been ever since her mother left us. Mind you, all the shelties have their moments. Here we have Sugar telling Matthew to leave her alone, Tammy telling one of them that what is hers is hers, and what's theirs is hers too, and my super sweet boy, Toby, my, what was he thinking? Never that serious though, except for when Dundee wasn't being treated for hypothyroidism, then we saw true aggression, but this is what I love about Shelties, they all run together so nicely most of the time.

I agree it's beautiful, Linda, a rich red gold. She and her daughter were the exact same shade of sable.

Great pics GF,I have always loved shelties, their nice calm demeanor, but looking at yours, maybe that's not the norm
Does your ACD naturally have a whitish face,or is it from old age??

Chico, this is probably as much red he had on his face when he was younger, taken in 2002. However, he is going to be 15 next month and the the third photo is his sire, Ch Warkoo Aussie Assault, taken at 15 1/2 years of age. You can see where the white face in old age comes from.
Shelties surprised me when I got them, they are not the lapdog sweetie pie dogs I thought they'd be, but instead a little working dog. They'll guard, some will bite visitors, they want to work sheep, they just rarely have their little fights, and Tammy used to amuse us because if we didn't walk fast enough going out for exercise, she wasn't past going from leg to leg, giving us a sneaky nip to hurry us along. But a delightful breed on the whole, except for the BARKING! Reallly easy peasy after tough cattle dogs, and so nice not to have to split up enemies. |
