Dog with red eye

Hi!
I feel weird posting on the dog health forums. Usually cats XD
Anyways Ragnar, my mutt has a red eye. His right eye. It's not itchy, it's not teary, every now and then gets sleep in the morning, whitish, green and nothing or almost nothing throughout the day.
I tried chamomile but still red then we tried cloranphenicol eye drops and it helped. Especially with the morning discharge. This morning he woke up clean and all but tonight he has the eye red again. It also gets slightly swollen in the inner corner. He's fine, pooping fine, eating like a madman lol, playful, energetic, everything OK.
Just that red eye I can't get rid of.
Could it be an allergy? The place he sleeps? A plant from when I take him out for walks? The cool wind?
What can ease a dog's irritated eye.
Oh I forgot. This has been going on for like 5 days. And I took him to the vet but they don't see anything really. But I swear he has a red eye. At home we all see it.

It could be an allergy. Have you tried flushing it with sterile saline? Sometimes a few days of saline is all it takes to clear up an irritation. We use saline on the dogs' eyes all the time when they've been out in the woods--amazing the stuff they can pick up out there!

One other thing just came to mind--does anyone smoke in the house? Lo these many years ago, we had a dog that had chronically red eyes before hubby quit smoking. He would even react to smoky clothes.

Hello again Koteburo:

A few years ago you were treating a cat with Colloidal Silver, that had ringworm. If you have any of that left over kicking around, I would be tempted to try a couple of drops or so 2 or 3 times a day directly into the corner of the dog's eye and then lightly work the eyelid so the Colloidal Silver runs over the eyeball and under the lid. See if that will help. I wouldn't use any strength over 10 ppm in the eye.
I usually use about 5 ppm in both my own eyes and those of the kitties if they have issues, but 10 won't hurt.

Great ideas. Saline and yes! I stil, have some of the colloidal silver. I ordered more a while ago just in case someone needed it.
I think it's 15 ppm though.
He likes to run around and gets in the bushes and trees. No one smokes.
I'll go for the silver and depending on how it goes try the saline solution.
Thanks for the link Marko.
Prepare to be annoyed a lot because I'm facing so many new things, emotional changes in the dog, etc That I'm not familiar with. I'm a moma cat that keeps scratching her head at this adorable canine nut job so I'll be asking a lot of questions

If you are seeing white and green gunk, that is infection. If it continues, the vet needs to give you some antibiotics for the eye. For now, I really like the idea of the saline solution, several times a day. They also make vetricyn for the eyes (I use my dog's vetricyn for mine sometimes), and it seems to work well, though I've never used it for an actual infection of the eye.

I had a dog that would get the white and green gunk from running in the fields. I think she would get stuff stuck in her eyes and a mild infection would start. I started using preseervative free artificial tears after I had to treat a few infections, and that seemed to keep away any problems after that, though now I use saline solution for my current dog.

Awesome thanks!
Now I have another problem... He doesn't let ms puut the drops in. He goes mega bonkers. Struggles. It's worse than trying to give a pill to a cat. I've tried treats, tricks, brute force lol
What can I do?
