What is the best way to transport a dog x the country?

We took Simba to Quebec and back (from Vancouver) on a westjet flight (he is 30lbs and had to go in the cargo). It was quite upsetting to him and his piddled in his crate (he has never done that, even at 9 weeks old), as well as panting like crazy. He wasn't himself for 2 days after. This was last summer.

Anyways, we are moving to Quebec in summer 2010 and he needs to come, obviously, do we do that again? I felt like a bad mother, I really did. We will have a newborn at the time (or I might still be 9 months along, I really don't know). It would be faster and easier to fly, but would it be better to do a drive? I dunno - I don't want to drive x Canada with a newborn (or worse, pop a baby out halfway!)

Any suggestions??? The move is not really negotiable as per my H's job.
