Unhappy pooch problems

I have a five year cockapoo. He is an inside dog with skin allergies. He is slightly overweight and seems to have stomach problems. He is always licking his lips. He seems to throw up more than the usual dog. Sometimes it is digested food, sometimes not, and sometimes just plain white foam. He is not quite himsef for a few days and then seems to be fine. The only constant is the lip licking. Any ideas? pet mom

Could be any number of things, digestion doesn't sound very good.

What type of diet is he on? How often does he eat? Is he under/over weight and when did all this start happening.

When he throws up is there a bunch of coughing before hand or just one hack up? Also, has he been eating grass outside?

Ofcourse any change of behaviour should be seen by your vet as soon as you can get him there. Try to notice when he throws up is it before/after a meal...after exercise or after drinking?

So petmom what's your problem with Luba's response?

I think she asked the questions I would ask.

I really think some people come here for a miracle cure and that just ain't gonna happen. We are regular people that know a few things.

If my dog were sick or not acting right...I would be at the vets. Somethings sure you can ask questions. But really we all know that the vet is the best possible place to go as they have the equipment to really help.

Might not have a problem with the response, maybe they are at the vets and haven't had a chance to respond yet.
My pooch has been to the doctor more than I ever have, and he's only been once so far. I haven't been to a doc in....21 years now. Don't like em. Nope.

Constant lip licking, swallowing, (a dog cannot lick their lips without swallowing) is a sign their stomach is upset..a trip to the vet is warrented.
Is your dog on steroids for the allergies and is this why he's over weight?
Just trying to get more info...but a check out by a vet is highly recommended.
The "old way of treating" skin allergies is to make a predisone addict out of a dog, I know, I had one. Long term predisone/steroid use has serious drawbacks...one is liver/kidney damage.
Any hoot..anytime your dog vomits more than twice a week it is time to take a good look as to why...and start a bland diet in small quanitys until you can find out, i.e, boiled chicken & rice. Good luck!

Melanie, you're better than me,I thought it was a parrot, but the licking his lips part kind of convinced me I was wrong
Sorry,I did not mean to be glib about a dog in trouble

Melanie, a cockapoo is a cocker spaniel and poodle cross. they have fur hair but they don't shed at least the ones around here are like that. And I hate to say this because they're obviously bybred but they are absolutely adorable!!!
