Our 2 year old male cat was diagnoised with the above SEE Subject.

The spelling of this medical problem is probablely wrong.

Could you please take your best guess along with the following symptoms: and treatment

1) pads of left front paw swollen, and infected

Our cat has been prescribed PREDISONE 5MG TABS 72 tabs in total over a period of 30 days starting with 4 tabs daily for 1 week
Then 4 tabs every other day next 12 days, Then 2 tabs every other day for 4 days, then 1 tab every other day 3 days.

After 15 days of giving our cat the above medication results have been minimal. The left front paw pads still appear to be swollen compared to the right front paw pads. The pad skin pealed away on its own and inflamation seems minimal except for the swelling of the pads.

The goal is to control the disease. This is not a cure.

I am not really sure what the above condition is. But I know that Prednisone is a steroid given to pets as well as humans to treat various skin infections that no other medications can take care of. It is used for sunburns all the way to psoriases (sp?), which is what I have taken it for, for 3 years when I was a teen. It takes a while for the skin irritation to clear up. I would suggest asking your vet if, due to the circumstances, the dosage should be adjusted/increased, or if he plans on continuing the prednsone after 30 days.

A granuloma is a solid grouping of inflammatory cells coming together in a solid structure. An eosinophil is a type of white blood cell that is commonly associated with allergic responses or with parasitism. Finding eosinophils in tissue suggests allergic disease usually whereas finding increased eosinophil numbers in a blood sample more commonly suggest parasitism. Sometimes proliferations grow from the actual footpads where they ulcerate as the cat is forced to walk on them. There is some tendency for this condition to occur in adolescent kittens though it can occur at any age. The eosinophilic granuloma complex represents a disorder of eosinophil function. The eosinophil's real job is to attack parasites. In cats with eosinophilic granuloma complex, eosinophils are called to the site of an allergic response and the biochemicals released cause damage to local collagen. For more:
