Back to School pictures
Hi All,
Thought I'd put up some new pictures of Amos the spoiled English Setter. He's going back to school at the end of March! |

He spends most of my work day on the leather sofa snoozing with his head on that pillow (silk-covered & feather stuffed dontcha know) either that or he's in his bed which is by the radiator in the direct frech breeze from the window he demands to be kept open a crack. He's got it pretty good... |

We are going for intermediate level obedience with a local obedience club. Its nice, we'll be able to move up to some competitive Obedience & Rally classes later on. I checked out their obedience 1 & 2 classes last night and really liked the practical balanced approach. The focus seems to be on what is effective with your dog, no militant clicker or positive only, no militant crank 'n yank. I'm very pleased.
Meanwhile, I'm waiting for the COOLEST dog toy EVER to arrive, Its a rabbit pelt covered canvas tugtoy w/squeaker and built in treat pocket. Just what every hunting dog dreams of!! By the way, thanks for the welcome back. Going back to school part-time chews up alot of time! That and we bought Amos (and ourselves) a condo! No more renting and a home of our own! But...but...but...Amos is a bird dog!
Every time I think of rabbits, I think of fleas. One of the dogs caught a rabbit once and as I was approaching to have them give it to me, I could see hundreds of fleas jumping from the rabbit to the dog! Sort of like something out of a Stephen King novel! So we avoid rabbit whenever possible...

Tell HIM that! He's a bird/squirrel/rabbit/mouse dog. He harrasses us everymorning that someone is home past 7:30am for the morning squirrel hunt in the park next door. If no squirrels are around the birds will do. He has dug up dead mice at the dog park to wave at the other dogs. He hides them in his lips with only the tail poking out if a person comes near to hide it but flips it to hold by the tail with body flapping out to taunt the other dogs. He did the same thing with a dead rabbit he found one time. Now THAT was gross. |

Our dogs have a thing for mice, too. And right now they're all being treated for leptospirosis because of it.
Ridge is our squirrel dog. If there are squirrels at the feeders, we know exactly where she'll be and what she'll be doing. She'd sit and stare at them for days if we let her.

By the way Hazelrunpack... I have a question for you...
Do any of your setters pout? As in stick out their bottom lip so that it is poked infront of their upper lip/flews when they want something? |
