My Poor Fluffy White Dogs

Took the crew in for baths and haircuts. Mr Chum looks handsome...however my fluffy white ones aren't that looksome without hair haha! I wanted to have them shaved right down once, so I could get a good look at their bodies, and familiarize my self with any bumps lumps warts etc, so I can monitor any changes. I also wanted to get a good look at their weight without all that fur...Miss Minni will continue on her diet but Miikka will now go on maintenance.

You need to be very careful about letting your white dogs stay out in the sun too long. They can get a bad sunburn. I knew of a Samoyed that got cancer this way, the owner had the poor dog fur cut off every summer .

Yes...we go for our walks early morning or after sunset now...my backyard is in
shade except for a couple hours mid afternoon and they don't get to go out then...and they have little coats to wear if we must venture out in the sun...I am very careful about sun exposure as I am allergic to sunlight myself.

That has to be very difficult being allergic to sunlight . I tried to tell the people that cut off their Samoyed fur in the summer is not good for the dog. Marty it white too and I have to remind the groomer not to cut his fur too short.

No , that is not cute as put dogs at risk of getting a sunburn and especially white dogs with pink skin.

The poor little tykes kinda look like baby mice!! I got them shaved down to the same length as Chum...next time we will go up a couple lengths! They do feel just like velvet, I am surprised how quickly their fur grows, it has been almost a week and their hair is already starting to show it's curliness. I always wait till mid August to clip Mr C once the heat of summer passes and the days get shorter. However this year we have had almost no summer, just wet and rainy, I have go out and do a daily mushroom search :-(

They're adorable in their puppy cuts, Csq!! I used to puppy-cut our chocolate-and-vanilla springer, too--she loved it, but she grew out so quickly! We'd clip the hot-blooded vixen 3 times a year and she'd still look like a shag rug by the time of her next 'do'.

It was kinda muggy last night so i turned on the ceiling fan in the bedroom. I woke up a couple hours latter and they were both plastered up against my back shivering away...I had to get up and get them one of my faux fur throws and cover the poor naked things up!

I feel bad for them being cold! Good that you noticed though and covered them up. I think they're fine with the cut so long as you (as you obviously are) are careful about the sun. It's like people and kids. It's all about being responsible.

Chum looks delightful as always!

I feel sorry for the poor little gals, I wanted them to get a fairly short haircut...I had no idea they would end up so naked. Chums hair is cut to the same length but it apparently is much thicker...oh well live and learn, they will be getting a #3 trim next time instead of a #7. It is a good thing I have a large covered deck and lots of shade in the backyard where they can still enjoy the fresh air and avoid the sun.

I am surprise that groomer did not tell you it not good to go so short. I wonder if groomers are told when learning how to cut pets.

I KNOW it is not good to go short which is precisely why I wait till mid August to get them clipped. Here in the North the sun is much less intense and the uv index goes down...what I did not know was there was that big a difference in a #7 clip on a Springer Spaniel as compared to a Cock-a-Ccon

Hey haven't we all had at least one hair cut that we regretted??? Live and learn. Just make sure nobody posts their pics on facebook or they'll never live it down...
