Suzie Q

We lost our little ray of sunshine on Tuesday. While it wasn't confirmed until after her passing, she had Addison's Disease and her heart stopped while she was at the vet for treatment. We fought all weekend to keep her hydrated and restful, but in the end, it wasn't enough. Her potassium levels were too high for her little heart.

We're destroyed that our little lovebug was taken so quickly, without a real chance to say good bye or give her one last hug. I know she knew that she was loved, and I am trying to take a page out of her book and keep a smile on my face, but it's so hard to think that we have to get used to not having her in our lives. Our other dog, Luna, living on borrowed time herself (bladder cancer), doesn't know where her best friend is. It breaks my heart when she stares out the window, or looks around at any little sound for Suzie to come bounding around the corner.

RIP Suzie

I'm so sorry to hear you lost your Suzie Q so suddenly. I know from experience that losing a loved pet that way is very hard. I'm sure she passed knowing how loved she was and that you were doing all you could for her. RIP sweet SuzieQ, you and your parents will be together again one day. Please give Luna an extra hug from me tonight.

I am very sorry to read about SusieQ's passing, nothing we do or say, will ever make it easier, except maybe the fact SusieQ had a wonderful life with you.
Just like you,I am sure Luna is mourning her loss of a friend and will need a lot of love and support.
Luna having cancer, must make it doubly difficultto you
sweet SusieQ

Thank you for your kind words...I don't know that everyone truly realizes how helpful their posts are. Everyone is here for a reason and it is very helpful to share feelings with people who are passionate about their furry companions.

Today, I felt Luna's stomach and realized just how sizeable her tumor(s) are. She seems to have one orange sized one in the area of her bladder and then one off to the side. She is hanging in there by some sort of miracle, though. She doesn't seem to be suffering, she still eats and is active, so I guess we'll just keep on monitoring her and she'll let us know when she's had enough.
I hope that I will have a couple more months before I am writing a post for her.

If the year starts off this tough, it can only look up, right?
