7 years with diabetes

Just wanted to celebrate a little on the anniversary of Aztec's diabetes diagnosis (Feb 28, 2003). He enjoyed a lovely sun-filled day with lots of hugs and pets, several little trips outside to smell the smells, a nap in his tent, and some tasty raw venison (plus numerous treats in his treat ball). Not entirely different from any other day (minus Zack and my screaming during the hockey game), but oh so special in its very existence.

Cheers to my extra sweet boy.

Levemir (1.25 units), with the occasional booster shot of Humulin R (0.25u). Aztec was one of the first cats in Canada to use Levemir when it first came on the market here in 2006. He's done much better on it than the Caninsulin he was on previously. I don't think Lev is a good choice for dogs though, from what I've heard. What insulin does your pug get?
