Hoarse Kitty

Hi Everyone! I'm posting about my cat, Roarie, again. Last time I was here, you all gave me a lot of hope that she would soon accept my newly acquired husband, and you were RIGHT! They've become big buddies. About a week and a half ago, we got an adorable 7 week old kitten. After about 3 days, she (KisseyFurr) and Roarie were GREAT friends. Even though she is fixed, Roarie has mothered the poor little one to death--we couldn't be happier.

That being said, Roarie started having a very hoarse meow about 2 days ago (the kitten had been here for a week). Roarie is and has always been only an inside cat. The kitten was an outside cat until we brought her home. We've bathed her, and plan to take her to the vet very soon--I only have a few more days of school left. (If your advice is to take her ASAP, work is a MINOR issue!)

I guess what I'm asking is, should we be super-worried about Roarie's hoarse meow? She seems to be feeling okay otherwise, although, she is possibly seeming a little more grumpy than usual. We don't know if she actually is, or it's our minds playing with us since we're worried. I do know she's eating and drinking normally, and she'll still play to a degree.

Any advice you could give would be great! Thanks for everything!

There's a good chance your new foundling brought a 'cat cold' into the house. So a visit to the vet is about all you can do. Might as well do it sooner than later. Vets book in advance so you can call now to make an appointment for as soon as your schedule permits. Once the appointment is made, talk to them about the hoarse meowing and see what they say.

Yes, I would be worried about the hoarse meowing. Please take her and the new kitten to the vet as soon as possible.

Thanks!

Yeah, that's what we were thinking. I just feel better that I didn't hear a panicked, "Oh My Gosh, Your Cat is Hoarse, and You're Not in the Vet ER RIGHT NOW???" Here's a picture of both--they could just about pass for Mommy and Baby.....so precious! Thanks again!
