Canine Good Citizen

Who's dog has their's? The dog club here is offering classes for it this fall and I want to take it. What parts did you and your dog find the easiest, hardest? Did you get it the first time around?

I know one part that we can ace is the going through a gate, we have 3!! Front yard, to the back yard from the front and a gate to the alley, she should be an expert on it without too much work!

Hardest will be allowing a stranger to brush her I think. She gets all excited when I brush her, she's a kook. Have to work on that one. She should be fine with me out of sight for a bit.

Riley has his Canine Good Neighbour. They offered the test at one of our rally obedience competitions. The test was pretty easy, I don't remember anyone brushing my dog though? He had to greet a person and keep all feet on the ground, walk by another dog, go through gates, be held by someone while I went out of sight, by okay with wheelchairs, crutches, umbrella and kids. I think that was mostly it.

Oban got his CGN when he was 9 months old. I'm pretty sure I bragged about it here. Nobody did any brushing at ours but I did take his brush with me, it was part of the test. No wait, maybe they did run a brush down his back.

I really thought the evaluator was exceptionally lenient in ours and I did not expect we would pass.
