spinach and Diaherrea?
I have a question about dog food my golden retriever has been on wellness super five and doing great, recently they improved their formula and added spinach, my dog now has diaherrea. Could this be from the added spinach? I didn't notice this problem until we bought the new bag and it said that the recipe has been changed . Does anyone have any advice. Does anyone know if spinach is a natural diarrhetic. Thanks, Jewels

I've never heard of spinach causing diarrhea, but despite that, it's quite possible that it's the "new formula" that's causing this. Because the ingredients have changed, the new bag is like a new type of food, which will take your dog some time to adjust to. If you don't think it's health related, but rather food related, then I would give it a week or two and see how it goes. That is of course assuming we're talking about just very soft stool, not severe diarrhea.

I think spinach might be with the other leafy greens, which have very high fibre. They would compensate for that somewhere though and the fiber content should be under 4%...

Spinach and green tea
I just found out that they added green tea too as an anti oxidant. She doesn't have severe diaherrea but her stools are very loose and she wakes me up at 3 am to go and sometimes she can't hold it. The dog food seems to be passing through her alot quicker than usual. Thanks

You might want to feed the doggy 3/4 of the normal portion tomorrow, just to see if the stools firm up. If it's really because of the change in formula, feeding less might be a smaller shock to the system... Maybe..
