Have you checked out your local shelter or spca?

There is a Bichon Frise and Maltese rescue in Ontario. Here is their site:

I've just called my Kingston Humane Society and spoke with Beth, I told her I was interested in being put on a list or learning about adopting Maltese type dogs. Her reply was "we just don't get those types of dogs here" I could take your name but you won't get called.
I replied, Oh thank you and hung up! My thoughts were, what do you do just kill em? OK maybe I'm having an off day, but isn't the Humane Society suppose to be about rescue? A person calls in trying to help a little being and gets the brush off?
What the hecks this world coming to!

No, the woman doesn't mean they kill them. Many breeds of dogs are just never seen in shelters.

They are either rare breeds, or extremely popular ones - like toy poodles and shih tzus, Yorkies etc. They are usually snapped up the second they become available.

We've had these types of dogs in our rescue and never even got the chance to list them, since we have a waiting list of people looking for these types of dogs.

Did you contact the rescue I gave you?

Yes, many shelters don't get small dogs often, or there is a waiting list a mile long for any who come in! Even the ones with serious cronic illnesses can get snaped up quickly!
