Akita mix looking for home

I rescued a wonderful Akita mix (Lab probably), two nights ago, from being put down at the Montreal SPCA . He is 15 months old, absolutely wonderful, sweet, affectionate, and gentle. Does not bark, whines for about 5 minutes when you leave, but is great in the house.

Will steal food that is left out, and will snoop in the garbage, hence his name Snoop. Pictures have been taken but not uploaded on my computer yet, but can have some by tomorrow.

Why was the SPCA Montreal going to put him down?

Snoop

I'm not sure if his sister is still there, but she's actually still up for adoption (not euthanasia). Snoop was going to be put down because he caught kennel cough twice. They got fed up....

Just finished his meds last night, did not see any sign of the cough left. No sniffling, no sneezing, no secretions. It looks all gone... Couldn't they give him a few more days? No, twice is too many times. Instead of vaccinating him against it, they just put him down.

I"ve seen them kill animals for less.

When you get pics you can send them to me - along with a description - and I can list him for you. Is he neutered?

Pix of Snoop the Akita mix

Tried to post a picture, couldn't do it. Will upload them on my site, http://sophie.rimasec.net/Snoop

Will have to go see them there, I am not computer literate enough to do a simple posting!!! Such a shame.

Dogs: Snoop is snooping for the right family!

My name is Snoop and I am a wonderful Akita mix, male. I was born October 29, 2003, so I am 16 months old, weigh approx. 85 lbs and as friendly and cuddly as can be. I was set to be euthanized at the SPCA, and was saved at the last minute. I am now in a foster home and I am told I am a very good boy. I stay alone like a big boy and am fully housetrained.

I get along great with everyone, including dogs and kids. I love to play, I am healthy and up to date on my shots

If you want to adopt me, contact Sophie.

PLEASE ADOPT ME!

Thanks BMD - I'll list him right away!

ETA: is he neutered, and if not, will he be neutered before adoption?

Thanks BMD and Lucky. You guys are great help. Unfortunately he is not neutered yet, but I am waiting to get an appointment at Vanier (that's the cheapest place I can go as I don't get discounts at vets). They are quite booked, so I am hoping to have it done before, otherwise the appointment will be made and the people will have to bring him themselves. The adoption fee will be charged to include my cost of sterilizing him.

Isn't he just a doll?? Look at that face

Here is an offer: If you can get this dog to the Pet Trade Fair on March 19, Lucky Rescue will try very hard to get him adopted.

Hudson is a BIG dog lover place, and he could get a wonderful home!!

Pet Fair

Where is it located, and how exactly do the adoptions work at a pet fair? Is there a previous screening? Do people leave with the dog right away? Would I be there as a guest rescuer and do my own adoption or would I surrender the dog to you? Just a few questions, as I have been invited to a big "adoption" day with a local rescue, and was not too impressed with the "screening system". They mostly went with a form to fill out there, much like the SPCA screening system, and then "gut instinct".

Some rescuers tell me I am much too invasive and picky about my choice of families, my reference checks, and so on, but I am.... what can I say..

So please let me know the procedures you have at adoption fairs, where it is, and I will definitely consider it (if I can get myself over there as I don't have a car).

Thanks

Snoop is adopted!

Just a note to let everyone know that Snoop is in his new home as of last night. He is doing great so far, they fell in love instantly.

Wonderful young couple, very responsible, the whole family has always adopted rescues only, they just recently lost their old dog and the other one was getting lonely.

He is now living in St-Lazarre. Thanks to all who posted him.

I now have "Stevie the Wonder Dog", you can see him on my site http://sophie.rimasec.net as well as Colo.

... just erase the END part of the URL http://sophie.rimasec.net/Snoop/

and go directly to http://sophie.rimasec.net and you will find the bundle of joys there.

Wonderful site!

Snoop

Not sure where they saw Snoop, LuckyRescue, but will ask and let you know.

As for the pix, I forgot to put .jpg after the link, but as WeeZee says, erase snoop and you get to my site, where there are pix there too. Have you guys seen my latest additions? There's Colo, the Cocker Spaniel, and Stevie the Wonder Dog, a 3 month old blind pitty-x.

He is the sweetest thing ever!

Home visit

Actually, it must be. I have been soooooo busy I couldn't remember who offered to do the home visit, especially that I don't remember who's who on this site!

I have been calling regularly and they have sent me pictures, so the visit is not a necessity. I know everyone is so busy always, only if you have time to spare, you could go by. But I am very happy with my placement, they just adore him. They had him neutered the first week, and had taken him to the vet right away to check on his kennel cough. He is super healthy, a wonderful dog and their female just adores him.

I feel with Snoop, I found a great family. He will be treated like a King.
