Diarrhea
my dog is 4 months and I just brought her home yesterday she has a bad case of diarrhea what can help her or should I take her to the vet... We already think it is because of the food or maybe water change so what can I do to help her..

Welcome...you could try to give her some boiled white rice..This will help bind her up...Make sure she is drinking lots of water as diarea will make her dehydrated. Do you have any pure pumpkin? Not pie filling...Give her a spoonful with her food for the next couple of days...It usually works quite well...

It might be a good idea to get a vet-checkup w/ a stool sample since you said you just brought her home. At least it would give you a base to start at and comfort knowing there were no parasites/worms.

If the diarrhea persists tonight, fast her for at least 24 hours. Her gut needs a rest and if it is food-related, needs to process out the problem before you add anymore "fuel to the fire". Following the day of fasting, you can then try her with some homemade chicken broth for breakfast and some plain white rice with a little boiled chicken for supper. If her stools remain soft, you can add some pumpkin or psyllium for fibre.
BUT, I think you should take your dog to the Vet for a complete check up anyway and that would include a fecal analysis. |
