What a bad day... attacked by stallions

OMG, what a bad day yesterday turned out to be.

Started off on a ride, all was going well, had 2 people along with me on quads (4 wheelers) for the company.
All was going wonderful.
My new horse rides like a dream
Well a good 3 miles down the road with cars passing us, Beauty not flinching nothing was making this a bad day.

Then a moron on a racing 4 wheeler goes by, but just as he is beside us, he GUNS it! Now, racing bikes are NOT quiet at all.
Obviously this spooks Beauty, we are now off on a full out gallop. No big deal, I'm working on getting her back from her scare when the saddle starts sliding off to the right.

Well needless to say, just as she was slowing down there was no way I could hang on to her mane anymore and shift off the saddle that is now completely sideways, so I end up gathering some air miles ( yes I wiped out... gracefully mind you)

No big deal, get up walk up to Beauty and grab for her reigns.

Shes part way up a driveway where there are 2 other horses. They break out!
They were held in by one small line of electric fencing and thats all!
We had no idea at this point that they were stallions.
Beauty tears off as they both come running straight for her biting and being VERY aggressive.
Now she is on a mission to get home as fast as she can. With all her tack on, saddle under her belly by the point I lost sight of her.

These insane stallions were hot on her heels.

My friends who were following me on the quads take off after them.

This is where I am running off of what people are telling me happened as they just tore off after the horses leaving me at the house ( where no one is home)

A neighbor had seen this whole thing unfolding in his truck and took off with them to stop the horses, or at least traffic until they made it back home.

Over the next almost 2 hours, I am walking back. And now they all realize that these are stallions that they are dealing with.
They easily enough manage to get them all locked up in Beauty's paddock but they are beating the **** out of her.
They pull Beauty out to get the saddle off of her, and just as the saddle broke loose the stallions ran straight through the fence for her.

One of them ended up running through 3 strands of barbed wire ( cutting himself pretty good) another electric fence and somehow ending up in another pasture with other horses.
The people who own those horses somehow round him up and lock him in their barn.
Now I am almost there, and someone sees me walking so they send another girl who i have no idea who she is to come pick me up.

When I get there, somehow they had managed to tie the bigger stallion to a hydro pole and my mare was standing close by him to keep him settled.
Now the cops show up as the entire community called them as the wild horses were running around on the roads.
He's useless. Takes some statements of what happened and leaves.
The stallion breaks loose just as he leaves. Great!
Now there are 11 people, one crazy stallion and my tired mare wanting nothing to do with him. Shes rearing and kicking him, I'm trying to hold on to her so she doesn't take off running again.
Half an hour of this ( and me almost losing my pants) they have him tied again.
We lead Beauty down to the barn where the other crazy boy is to get this one locked up in a stall.
It works, but not with out incident.
After over 3 hours ( if not 4) we have everything under control. Walk Beauty back to her barn, put her in a stall and check her over.
She has a few good bruises from kicks, and several bleeding bite wounds.

All in all she's alright, those boys on the other hand are NOT. They're both bruised up BADLY as Beauty would just keep kicking and kicking them, one is cut up and all 3 are beat tired.

The owners as of right now are still not home. Must be gone for the long weekend???
There is so much property damage from them running through fences and digging up lawns its not even funny

Thankfully, and most importantly, no one was hurt. Just one nasty chain of events that all seemed to start because I wanted to go for a ride.

This by far is my WORST experience ever with horses. Everyone kept asking me after all was said and done, If it scared me off of horses.
It hasn't, when I went down, the people behind me on the quads said that as soon as I went on to her side just as I fell, she did a side step away from me ( thanks girl)
I now am even more terrified of stallions though. They can be WILD when a mare comes by.
We honestly thought they were gelded, I mean these people have just the 2 of them in a really weak fenced area.
What a day... I'd be really happy if I never encountered a situation like that again.

People keep telling me I am lucky my mare is still alive, apparently 2 stallions on her like that would kill her eventually

the day could have been so much worse, many many people could have been hurt.
In a way its almost a good thing that the quad idiot spooked her and i fell off, those boys would have come out no matter if she stepped in their driveway or not.

They saw a girl and were heading out for her no matter what!

I'm thankful in a way it was me, not the people that live down the road from these stallions, I mean they have kids, kids ride horses as much as adults do. What if they would have rode by them?

So many "would have, could have" 's keep running through my mind, I had a hard time sleeping last night.

Now I'm off to see my 2 crazy horses here, no matter what they act like now, nothing horse related can possibly scare me more than yesterday did.

I am terrified of those 2 stallions, I want to head out to the barn where Beauty is shortly and walk her around a bit. Shes in a stall and needs to move around.

I want to go see how the psycho's are too, but I dont ever want to see those 2 horses again. The looks in their eyes yesterday haunt me.

Why someone would have 2 stallions like that is beyond me. I'm sure they are wonderful when no other horses are around but unfortunately this was indeed going to happen sooner or later.
Even though I hate those 2 horses right now, I hope they are ok.
I hope that their owner comes home soon too... and fixes things up at his barn so they never escape like that again. Or GELDS THEM!

I wonder how the owners of the stallions will react when they arrive home to see what has happened.

I don't know anything about horses, but isn't it kinda irresponsible to leave two ungelded stallions unattended in a poorly secure area?

I hope they won't try to make you pay for damages.

I really don't see how they can make me pay, I mean it would have to go to civil court and I was out on a ride, nothing illegal about that, and when they did break out of their pasture, I had my horse.
I'm not going to hold on to her while 2 stallions are attacking her, and even if I wanted to she bolted!
My only option really once they had gotten out was being dragged 3 miles and killed.

Oh, crap, erykah! What a terrifying day!! I'm glad everyone is all right--but I do hope the owners of the stallions take responsibility for the breakout and damages!

How stiff are you today from your fall? And how was Beauty today?

OMG Erykah, what a horrifying experience,I am sooo ignorant about horses,I did not even know horses could get that aggressive.
I am sure you'll have nightmares for a while.
I hope your girl will be ok,she might be terrified now too, just like a dog would if he was attacked
I too hope the other two will be ok,I guess they did what any not fixed(gelded?)stallion would do and the owners should have known that
They are in no position to sue anyone, but they might get sued for damages.
do you need a vet for Beauty?
What a birthday you had:sad:

Well, here's the update.

Turns out the owner of the stallions IS an amazing man, he took full responsibility for everything, and when we left the barn from trying to help load his crazies, he was doing a damage control check and pricing stuff out.
The horses are vaccinated, so no worries for disease spread, and he is gelding the larger stallion and selling the little one ( he has had a lot of problems with him actually)

Beauty is doing GREAT, shes here now, I had a whole support system here to bring her as I was terrified of a repeat of yesterday. Mares act so much different.
Shes not right in with Venna and Fay but they are side by side. Ven is more than willing to snif over the fence and say hi, Fay is unsure but not aggressive at all!

I took some pics but have to head out for dinner right now, will post them before I hit the hay tonight.

Holy crap, Erykah.

I'm glad you and everyone are okay and that the owner is taking all responsibity as he should.

Glad that Beauty is okay too and sounds like the introductions with Venna and Fay will go well.

Enjoy your birthday supper.

Well, I'm back and stuffed now! But it feels so great!

Here's my pictures of Beauty as promised. ( Her name since a filly was Beauty, the other people that I purchased her from called her Flicka which is a special name to me as well, so I think we will be calling her Flicka Beauty to honor both names that suit her so well)

Here she is my mostly Canadian horse. ( Dad pure Canadian, mom 3/4 Canadian 1/4 Percheron)

Lookit her beautiful tail! It almost touches the ground

You can see in her eyes how soft of a horse she is

*more to come photobucket is being SLOW as molasses in February

Fully broke to ride and drive and a champ at bareback with no bit or bridle, all she needs is bailing twine on her halter and away you go!

Where I purchased her from the 2 kids would hop on her back in the paddock and sit there and she would walk around her paddock with them so gently.

She's going to be an excellent horse. Already is, imagine with some mileage on her!

I guess horse things are more expensive? And maybe need replacement more often? I have no idea. Also, I think some things are just must haves for horses..u will need this and this etc..but for a dog, so much is up to personal preference......

im just making this up, hahaha.

What did u get?

and Happy happy birhtday
