Natural cleaners?

My dog is raw fed and I admit to being... um... lazy when it comes to clean up after he eats. I've been washing the floor after he eats with soapy water with some bleach in it to kill the buggies.

My 7 month old daughter has just recently started crawling and I can't keep her out of the kitchen. She's also obviously still in the stage of putting everything in her mouth so I now need to become militant about clean up.... but I'm hesitant to use harsh cleaners and bleach when she has no problems licking the floor

Any suggestions on something I can use that is harsh enough to kill salmonella but gentle enough that it won't harm my daughter?

(I'd feed the dog elsewhere- bathroom, crate, outside- but he's picky. You have to be IN the room with him but you can't look at him, and he can't be confined in any way or he refuses to eat.) \

TIA!!

When our guys eat their raw indoors, we first wash with hot soapy water then use a ratio of 1:1 peroxide and warm water in a spray bottle. Spritz all over and wipe.

Glad to hear that you want to get rid of the bleach. This is harsh especially if the dog keeps on putting his food on it. You are on the right track

Some people use hot soapy water. Vinegar or vinegar and water is good. I used to also put vinegar in one bottle and human grade 3% hydrogen peroxide in another bottle and spray one wipe up and then spray the other and wipe up. Now I only use the vinegar....

These products are much safer and cheaper then store bought bleach/chloride and cleaners.

You might want to try this floor cleaner, I use it all the time. Smells great and is non-toxic!

1 capful dish detergent
12 drops of bergamot oil
5 drops of thyme linalol oil
3 drops of rosemary oil
1 bucket of hot water

Combine and use to mop floors. This will disinfect and deodorize. There is no need to rinse.

Good luck!

April
