Jins F-E-A-R
Today me and jin were walking and we found another pair of people walking. We said hi and the two dogs met. Jin was shaking and was in the " crapping position" dogs do while the lab was snffing him. When the lab touched his noise Jin jumped to the side. The people thought he was scared and decided to leave. Is this normal for a 6 month year old dog?

Your dog lack socialization and you are unaware of the conditions that they dog lived in prior to you!! I think it's quite normal under these circumstances. Jin needs to be socialized slowly and gently into meetin new dogs. How's your classes going that you said you were starting? Does he have the same reaction there?
The position that Jin was in is a sign of submission - he was letting the other dog be dominant. That's fine, he's not showing signs of fear agression. Just keep working with him, BUT DO NOT pet of sooth him when he is fearful like that - you will be telling him that his reaction was good and he will remain the same. |
