omd, look at that snowy face I'll have to show the Pack Sparky's beard next time they start griping about snowballs in their toe hairs.

Dang, that Sparky gets cuter every time I see him! He looks like he's enjoying being King of the Snowbank!

County Police Animal Services officers want to remind citizens to be particularly careful with all pets during this time period of cold and significant snow. Dogs spending a period of time outdoors must have access to water and shelter, to properly protect themselves from the elements. The best advice during periods of extreme weather conditions is to bring your pets indoors.

Tips from veterinarians for cold weather care of a dog include:

• Provide a heated bed and shelter for dogs which cannot come indoors.
• Avoid letting your dog eat snow – keep fresh room temperature water available at all times.
• Keep food and water in a place where it will not freeze – preferably inside.
A dog’s ears and tail are susceptible to frostbite; check them after a dog has been outside for a long period of time.
• A dog licking the salt off the bottom of his paws can make him sick, so wipe his paws after he walks through a salted area.

Excellent note look4u, however, Sparky is very well looked after and I assure you, no such dangers will occur ..

He LOVES sticking his head IN the snowbank and these balls apprear pretty much within the first 2 minutes of our walk.

He is also dressed when it gets really cold. He has booties and a coat. He HATES them, but oh well!

JennieV, I'm sure Sparky is well looked after, it's just that we are getting an unusual amount of snow for Maryland and I was concerned about people in the more southern territories to be aware of and consider these particular problems . Enjoy the snow Sparky and JennieV Have a good weekend , look

JennyV, great pics, I especially like the last one where he's perched at the top of the snowbank, with the snow falling and the night sky behind him
That would make a great Christmas card pic!

excellent post Look4U.
Perhaps it should be posted on a separate thread, so more people can see it - especially this time of year.

And as for Sparky - look at that smoochy woochy widdle face
What a cutie!

So that took what? Two seconds of being outside to get those wonderful little snowballs on his face? He is such a cutie! I'm sure he loved getting back indoors to share the snow with kitteh.

Thanks guys!
yes, he kinda throws himself down the bank so I have to be careful and watch him like a hawk... Which I do..lol..for if its not for the red harness - he'd be lost to humanity...lol

I will try to post more...but yes, these snow balls begin forming as soon as we leave the house and by the time we reach the end of the street - I got me a snowdog...

Oh..and..I will try to capture snow zoomies! THAT is something to watch...LOL
