Simba needs a new family

Simba has been in our rescue for a while now , here's a few words from his foster mom :

Simba is a blond 10 year old male Golden. He has been sterilized and his vaccines are up to date. This little guy's world was turned upside down when he was abandoned just two days before his tenth birthday. He has done nothing to deserve this. His owners just grew tired of him and decided he had to go.

He is doing extremely well at his foster's home. At first, he was completely terrified by all the sudden change in his life, but it did not take long (one day !!) before his foster could see the real sweetie he really is. He is really outgoing, affectionate and loooves human attention, but will settle nicely if you have things to do. He is good in the car, does not bother much with cats and good with others dogs . He is good on leash, loves to take walks and to play ball. He would benefit from moderate and daily exercise since he needs to shed some weight and develop his muscle mass a bit. Do not be fooled by his age. He is quite energetic and playful for a 10 year old. He is looking for a family who is truly committed to provide him with a forever home.

Please pm me if you think you can be Simba's forever family (Simba is near Quebec city, but transport can be arrange)

Still no calls for beautiful boy Simba, we don't understand , Simba is extremely adorable and still full of life. Please spread the word around you for this boy, spread the word about him, about older dogs, how they don't deserve to be dumped just because they are getting old , how they can be sooo thankfull when you give these dogs a second chance, franctly, for me , they are the perfect dogs I should know, I adopted 3 of them so please , keep Simba in mind.

I stop at Ontario, won't drive further But I don't get it. I often get 8 yr old fosters and they get adopted. Simba is only 2 years older. He is still in good shape, he has still a couple years in front of him. They have so much love to give.

There must be some mental block that people have with a two-digit age! He looks gorgeous, Frenchy. Fingers crossed that he finds a home soon...do you guys have a 'senior to senior' program? Some of the rescues pair up older, mellow dogs with older people. Often older people want an older dog so that the dog doesn't outlive them!

Good luck, Simba!

p.s. how is it going with Paco, Frenchy? Any news yet?

Simba

The thing is you never know how long a dog will be in foster. I have had young dogs that are with me for weeks and then older dogs that are adopted within days. I believe there is a family for every dog but sometimes it just takes a little longer to find the right one. Last Christmas I had an older guy that was about 10 years old. Because of his age and health issues I thought I would end up adopting him myself because I was sure no one else would. I was wrong.
Someone will come along for Simba.

I think his foster mom is on hold right now. Her own senior golden just been operated on for a mast cell , might be cancerous. She is getting "support" from Simba. It helps her so she is not in a hurry to find him a new family, I suspect she might adopt him herself like many of us do when we get an older foster.

Well, it just isn't meant for him to come here I guess. I do hope he has a good future!

I'm sure not actively looking for another dog but when one comes along like him it just breaks my heart.

bump bump , Simba is still looking for his forever home.

I will say it again , older rescues are such nice dogs , no training needed as they are already clean in the house , they don't need 2 hours of exercise everyday to be satisfied , just one or two nice walk a day , they only want to love and please their new family. I know that all pets.ca members already have dogs , but it can't hurt to talk about Simba to your friends / family / coworkers , spread the word !

Awww Simba sounds like a great dog! Goldens are always in demand in this part of the US, even old goldens get adopted quickly. Maybe you could ask Yankee Golden to do a courtesy posting on their site of your older fosters? They've always helped me out. I hope Simba and Billy find their forever homes!
