Everytime vomit when eat raw bone

My 30 lbs dog last time eat raw bons and is fine.

Recently i gave him commercial smoked lamb bones, he vomitted some bones out. 2 weeks later try lamb shoulder bones, vomitted again, saw the bones vomitted out.

Last sunday, morning gave him lamb shoulder bones, the part not sharp. He vomitted littles bones out after 1 hour, and midnight vomitted twice, all white colour with bones. Next day saw so bit blood strain after he pooed. happened twice. Next day poo is fine without blood. Believe is his intestinal got hurt.

Anyone can advise how come he vomitted very time after eating raw bones ? Difference source of bones.

He might be allergic to lamb. ALso the smoked bones are quite rich - mine puked after eating one of them too.

Have you only given him lamb bones or has he had ham or beef in the past?

Sound like his little tummy doesn't like the lamb and E_town maybe right as far as allergic.

I tried giving ham bones (years ago) to my little pups and they totally messed up their digestion. That was the last of the bones.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.

He eaten lamb bones before and is fine.

He is not interested in chicken's necks. I dare not to try feed him bones again unless i finf out the reason of vomitting.

Will it be my dog lack of probiotics and enzymes ? Recently i bought this 2 supplements, hopefully he can eat bones again because corgi breed easy to have stone bladder if eat calcium (eventhough is good brand and accordingly to guideline. 1:1.2 .. he eats meat and vegetables which lack of calcium).

If can eat bones, i can cut down the calcium.

Are you feeding a raw diet? A cooked diet? Are you feeding raw bones? Commercially smoked bones should NOT be a part of any diet and your dog should not be eating these to make up for calcium. Never ever feed cooked bones to your dog.

If you are feeding a raw diet, raw bones should only make up 10-20% at the most. 10% should be organs and the remainder should be muscle meat. If your dog is straining and his stool is white and very hard and crumbly, he's getting too much.

If you're concerned about calcium intake, you can offer your dog whole raw eggs including the shell...the shell contains calcium. Sardines (we feed the frozen raw variety) and other whole fatty fishes are a good source of calcium as well.

My Golden could never eat raw bones. Always vomited for a few days after.

Besides chicken necks and lamb, what other kinds of bones have you given? Even though he's had lamb bones before, he could have developed an allergy to lamb. If the bones in the vomit are small enough to have easily passed through his digestive system, and there is no other medical condition that would explain the vomiting - I'd have to suspect the lamb.

Those are not the kinds of bones to feed in a raw diet . Dehydrated means all the moisture is removed from the bones...much like cooking. You will find no essential nutrients in such products. Are you not able to find real raw bones to offer ?

Are these smoked bones then? Many dogs cannot eat the smoked bones and sometimes those things don't even start out as real bones.

You can ask the meat department at your local grocery store for raw bones or if you have a true butcher shop, they should be able to provide you with raw bones.

Things like smoked bones are for recreational chewing. They are not meant to be fully ingested. Also the majority of weight bearing bones, even when raw are not meant ot be fully ingested.
