Whay does a dog scoot on it's rear??

My Mom has a dog that won't quit scooting on it's rear. She has taken it to the Vet and had it's gland cleaned out over and over. They have even treated it with antibiotics and nothing works.
Is there another reason a dog scoots like this? I mean this dog goes round and round scooting 25 times at onced. It's driving her crazy and she can't find any help.
It has no worms because they checked for that at the Vet also.

try another vet they could be impacted good luck my cocker had 3 rounds of pills it worked for a bit then we had to put her under so they could pack them good it worked!!! but we lost her 6 months later to cancer i loved that dog big time----- let us know how your pup is brenda and the pins.

Not sure of your answer? Impacted meaning constipated? The dog has not had that problem if so? The Vet did say they can do surgery on the gland that could help?

Sometimes the anal gland gets impacted with infection and the vets can squeeze them. They should normally release themselves. Have you looked at your dogs diet. Normally when they have a looser stool then they dont release properly..thus building up...I would go to another vet...I used penatin baby cream to sooth the sore bum..(vets advice). Check out a good quality food!

If your dog's behind is very fluffy take him/her to a groomer and have all the hair trimmed away around the anus, believe it or not some dogs persistently scoot because their fur tickles their butts.

how much came out of the anal glands when they were expressed? your dog could be one that constantly has problems. if they are full every time the vet does them, you need to add fibre to the diet. this will help soften the stool and help express the glands easier when the dog has a bowel movement. try adding a tablespoon of bran to the dogs food. you know you have added too much when the dogs stool becomes really soft and gross. lol. on the other hand, this doesn't work for all dogs. some dogs need to have their anal glands surgically removed, which can be tricky, and can loose control of bms if the sphincter is cut when the glad is being removed. anyways...i would try addiding fibre and see where it gets you. also try going to the vet and have them show you how to express the glands. then you can do it every couple of weeks if you have to.
