Question Depressed Cat

I have a one year old cat named Max and he seems to be depressed.
I took in a stray for 6 weeks. Max took to him right away and they got along great. I soon discovered (after a few vet appointments) that he was diabetic. Since I could not afford the costly bills to care for him, I gave him to someone who was more then willing to take him. Now Max seems depressed and is constantly meowing very loudly. I am not sure if I should get another cat or not. I am very worried that Max may not take to another cat due to the loss of Ben.
I would be grateful for any advice that anyone could give me on how to help Max best.

Hi catlegs,

Sounds like Max may be grieving. Max still may need some time to adjust to the departed cat. I would give him extra attention and especially playtime with a cat toy...feather, string etc.
Given that the last cat's condition was a financial stress on you I would not suggest you getting a second cat. Max will be fine with the extra attention you give him.

Here's some extra info from a previous post.

Good luck
