dog eating bones
My dog, Buddy is 4 years old. I adopted him in October 2003 after my dog died. He has a habit, which I did not know about, getting into the garbage can at night when I am asleep.
Last week he ate a chicken leg bone from the garbage. How do I know if it has passed or if it is going to cause him a problem? Thanks

You'll have to watch his stools and observe any change in behaviour or GI problems.
Bungee cord your garbage so the dog can't get into it or lock it up somewhere until you train the dog not to go in it!

Feed him rice mixed with cooked meat (to make him eat the rice) and add some oil. The bulk will help him pass it better.
And just watch out for any signs of upset stomach or discomfort...drooling, distended stomach, walking funny, lethargic etc.

Thanks for the advice. I did find a new place for the garbage right after this happened. There is no way he can get into now. He still is eating and playing fine. He is also very active. I will keep watching him.
Thanks again.
