Missing Teddy

I had to pts my Teddy Bear Guy this a.m. He was diagnosed with Cushings in the spring which was complicated by an enlarged heart and his kidney/liver functions were poor. He refused food for the past 2 days and all he wanted to do was drink lots of water, eat grass and vomit. Was having a very difficult time getting him to take his meds as he would not even eat his favorite treats. Teddy was born on Jan. 1, 2000 in the front seat of my car. I'd taken his mum (foster) into the vets on at 10:30 p.m. as she went into labour and was having difficulties. My vet, Dr. Walsh lowered all the lights at the clinic, put on some soft music and put her on a soft birthing pad, enduced her and we waited for the 1st. pup who arrived at 12:00 (Ben), the next baby (Tippy) arrived a half-hour later and then Meggie stopped her labour. At 2:00 a.m. we decided I'd take her home where she'd be more comfortable and she was induced again. 30 minutes after leaving the clinic Meggie did a turn-around on the car seat and out popped Teddy. From the moment I saw him he had these cute little teddy bear ears so was thus named Teddy. I will miss him so.

Missing Teddy

Thank you for all your condolences. For those of you that have had to pts a pet you probably went through the second-guessing stage of mourning where you can't believe they're really gone and blame yourself for not doing enough to keep them alive. Thats where I am now besides wishing yesterday was just a really bad dream and just wanting to pick him up, hug him and never let go and reverse my actions. The most heart wrenching part of this is that while I was cuddling him in my arms with tears running down my face before the euthanasia he was licking me to console me as he knew how upset I was. Trying to get through this and put it all into perspective.

But you did , and by saying goodbye yesterday , you didn't let him suffer , if he could , he would say thank you.
