St John's, NL to Edmonton AL

Hiya,
I am having an insane start to the year!

Due to personal circumstances, I have to rehome my little fur-baby.

On a happier note, a family member has stepped forward, and wants to have her! I've looked for a family locally, but none compares to the life she'd have with my cousin.

I am currently in St John's, Newfoundland - and my baby's new home is in Edmonton, Alberta. This is a long shot, but I thought I'd check it out.

Are there any animal lovers out there who are flying from St John's to Edmonton on West Jet within the next few months? I know I sound insane , but it's the sort of thing I would do for someone, so I thought that perhaps there is another me out there?

I just wondered if my pooch could fly with a passenger already making the journey. Not much is involved other than having her listed on your ticket. Her new mom would be waiting to pick her up in Edmonton, and I would drop her off and stay until the last possible second.

Anyhoo - if you know of anyone who cares about animals and may be making the journey, can you let me know?

Like I said - I know it's a long shot...but, you just never know.

Thanks so much. Have a great day

You probably know that the traveller has to add the pet to his/her ticket at the time s/he purchases it. I would suggest also posting on local boards - kijiji, etc. - you're bound to find someone reliable.

So sad you have to give her up.

Thanks so much!
That is a great idea - I'll try kijiji and others.
I know, it's so sad, but knowing she's staying in the family has given me a new lease on life!
I called West Jet. It's highly recommended that the pet is booked on with the passenger at the time of booking, but if there is room on the plane for a pet, they can be added later.
I really appreciate your advice and well-wishes.
Kind Regards

I would think that as long as the flight is direct Nfld to Alberta, there should be no problem sending your pet unaccompanied. Rescues do it all the time.

I know - I can send her unaccompanied, but it costs 50.00 to fly with a passenger, and 500.00 to fly unaccompanied. Right now, the 500.00 is a bit of an issue for me.... Argh!
Thanks though, it's nice that people are helping me "think"! I'll take any ideas and suggestions....
