How much money would you spend to save your pet from cancer?
Given the hypothetical situation that your pet had cancer. How much money would you be willing to spend on health care and treatment for your pet? And which of the the following factors that would influence the amount you were willing to spend to treat your pet
__ age of the pet __ the quality of life the pet would experience during treatment __ the quality of life the pet would experience after treatment __ success rate of treatment __ your financial status __ other (please specify) |

For me , money is not an issue , well it is but not if it can save my pet . Success rate is , and the quality of life of my pet.
Why are you asking , do you have a pet with cancer ? |

It would be pretty difficult to put a price tag on something like that.
As for your second question, all of them apply. But most important, I'd want to be certain that the person(s) treating my pets would be qualified to do so. Sounds like a survey an insurance company would distribute .

Yep , that is why I won't answer it weird how a new member who never posted here already knows how to make a survey

I really truly hoped this was a real poll. How do you put a price tag on your pet's life?

Wow, that's a hard question. For me, it would depend upon a variety of variables:
1) The dog's age 2) The dog's overall health 3) The predicted outcome of getting rid of it 4) Duration of treatment(s) to reach the predicted outcome 5) Potential problems that could occur from the treatment(s) |

I normally don't like to reply to surveys but I'll let out this much. I am not wealthy and just charged my credit card with a big vet bill. (Bad timing). But my consideration is mainly on the well-being of my pet and the quality of life with or without the treatment. What it hurts financially is incomparable to the guilty feeling for perhaps making the wrong choice for you pet and the physical suffering my pet went through. |

This survey bothers me. I've lived with the specter of cancer for many decades now. My husband has suffered through four bouts of colon cancer. He now has no colon and faces continual health issues. There's far more to fighting cancer than the payment of any sum to ensure "salvation" which may not be possible. So I sit here and wonder why one must place a cash value on treatment for "cancer" in any living being, human or not - let alone answering a survey about it. Just "cancer" (which encompasses everything from leukemia to sarcoma to carcinoma) - nothing else? No means of identifying the type of malignancy, or the prognosis? No indication of the potential discomfort involved? How can one "save" any living being from cancer, if it is not treatable or manageable? Why would we even want to do so if it means a drastically reduced quality of life? We must all die sometime. The best we can do is live fully, and try to bear our afflictions with good grace and as little pain as possible. I believe this applies to cats and dogs as well as to their owners.
Needless to say, I didn't answer the question. Given the lack of information, I don't feel that I can do so. Sorry. |

there is no way to put a price on your pets health, if this is a troll for an insurance company, then please, bring better insurance for dogs/cats without all the fine print. as for an answer, we were in the midst of remortgaging our home to give our Daisy (4 yr old lab/rotti/dane) another few months (she contacted lepto), we had already put out a few thousand in 8 months....so there really is no amount you aren't willing to spend. Now.....take that insurance company and make things better for our fur family.....

I feel so stupid ! I answered before I read the reponses and OF COURSE it's suspicious. I just get so worked up over this issue that I jumped in with my heart and left my brain at the door.
Joey had cancer and a very poor prognosis. We tried EVERYTHING we could. And we told the doctors up front that our goal was to save him and that we were willing to do what we could and spend what we needed to spend. And it came at a time when we had two kids in college, we were measuring the stack of bills from my own oncologist with a ruler (about 8 inches high of unpaid bills at the time) my husband had started a new company and we were living on the loan he took out to fund it. None of that mattered because Joey was a living creature who depended on us for his very existence !! You don't look into the eyes of a family member and say--uh oh, it's going to cost too much money to keep you around! Eventually we had to let him go because he was suffering so terribly and the vet sat us down with the x-rays and explained exactly what was happening and what he was feeling. (He was not completely conscious or coherent at the end and I feel guilt for my own selfishness in trying maybe harder than I should have.--Oh crap this stupid troll has me crying now !) Anyway....Joey has been gone for 3 years and I think we paid on the Care Credit for AT LEAST a year and a half after he was gone. It just wasn't a decision. He needed medical help and we had to find a way to get it for him ! |
