How can I stop my puppy from not going to the bathroom in the house?

Do you mean you want to stop your dog from going to the bathroom in your house? I would presume the extra "not" was unintended.

Housebreaking a dog is one of the first tasks you want to pursue and if you Google "housebreaking a dog" you will get a list of sites to visit a mile long. That would be the place to start.

Taking the dog outside frequently and when he produces, to reward him with treats and praise is the way to begin. Do not punish him for making a mistake in the house as this is counter-productive.

It will take some time before your dog is old enough to be reliable with going outside to do his business, but always when the puppy wakes up take him out, always shortly after eating take him out, always after vigorous play take him out. If he is very young, take him out at least twice during the night (yes sorry you'll have to get up at night to make a routine for him). There are no shortcuts to housetraining, but it's very achievable with persistance and positive reinforcement. Every time he goes outside reward him with praise and a party if you can.

If you are just starting housetraining a puppy at this time of year you will need to be more vigilant. Training a puppy (especially a short coated one!) in the midst of winter is very challenging at the best of times, and since you are in Alberta like I am, we have lots of snow and cold temps.

Puppy is going to be content to eliminate in your house if it is uncomfortable for him to go outside in the elements, so you will need to make it as easy for him as possible. Clear the snow in an area outside close to an entrance...and make MANY trips outside during the day, if and when he goes...PRAISE and treats! If he is short-coated he may need a sweater/jacket for outdoor trips.

It's so much harder this time of year, and trips outside need to be brief, but very often. You may also get more luck with crating, instead of letting your baby have full access to the house. Good luck!
