seems so many animals lately are having diarrhea Just went through it for + 2 wks. Brought her in, had her stools tested everything was good. Vet gave me Presciption Diet can food and probiotic powder ... made it worse. Kandy told me NOT to give her that since it's main ingredients is corn

Anyway she suggested I buy pure pumpkin & Probiotic pills (I bought Jamieson) and voila stools are beautiful and back to her normal self

Have you ever tried probiotic's?

Jimno we will do it today

GG,I take probiotics myself,I have Webber Naturals, with 6 billion cells.
It's called Acidophilus with Bifidus&FOS non-dairy(whatever that means).
Don't know if that is ok for cats.
I am afraid to mix any more meds in Rockys food, since he already gets his Tapazole in his food,he has to eat, needs to put on weight.
Vinnie would be ok with it.

I tried pumpkin before,no go,also tried the baby-food squash,no go and I have given Vinnie Slippery Elm powder.
However it seems Vinnie is ok now,I'll give Rocky some more Slippery Elm.

Maybe it's just a bug they're passing to each other, chico. Ours occasionally like to share good stuff like that

Glad to hear that Vinnie is on the mend! for Rocky and that Chico decides not to participate!

I got him pretty well cleaned up,no more dry crusty poop, but he's not white yet
Rocky gets the occasional runs, probably side-effect from his meds.

I'll bet having Mom get him cleaned up makes Vinnie feel better all by itself!!

OH no,you are wrong there Hazel
But he does not seem to have a sore bum anymore,so it was not that bad,we still have ways to go though.
I wonder if some Ivory soap and warm water would be ok..

Ivory tends to be pretty drying--it's actually hard on your skin. Maybe just water?

I did use a sponge with warm water to loosen everything up and it worked great,so no soap for Vinnie.
I should probably pick up some cat-shampoo,I need something to get his fur white again, then I am going to trim the fur on his back-legs(I think)for any more runny poop incidents
Thank's everyone for your help,great people,as usual

Oh Chico you poor boy! I know what its like with the smell as well. Tabitha has done that before and she is a longer hair and it was such a mess. I tried cutting it, sponging it everything and finally I had to hold her bum under the faucet to get it all loose! Good luck and I hope he is feeling better!

Winston,I cleaned him a little more today,so he'll soon be nice and white again.
I don't like to fiddle with his bum too much,so we do a little every day,NO MORE RUNNY POOPbut now Rocky has it, he never gets poop on his fur,not like the little pig-let
I've been giving Rocky some Slippery Elm,hopefully it will work.
It was Vinnie, not Chico,Chico is always ok,he's one healthy little guy, never problems with him...so far and he's 12 yrs old.

Hope it clears up soon chico, you're such a good mom to clean Vinnie up like that. He must have been very relieved to have the help.

I'm glad to hear Vinnie is back to normal. Hopefully, Rocky will be okay soon too.

How much Slippery Elm do you give them? Is it in a powder form? I've seen it at Whole Foods and just wonder if it's the same thing. I just want to know for the day I may need it.

Chico - you have definately had your hands full the last couple of days. First Vinnie, then Rocky, then poor Bailey. Hopefully everyone will be runny poop free very soon.

Vinnie, Bailey, now Rocky . Could there be a connection? Is Bailey in a house that borders onto yours?

Yes,I've been wondering that too,Bailey lives right behind me,with a chain-link fence between us and a hedge.
It is possible I somehow transmitted the bug, between the three of them
Like I said in Baileys post,I now wash my hands after having been with Bailey and before I go to Bailey.
I found this morning Rocky missed the box, poor little guy.
He does not seem sick, eats and drinks like before,a mystery
Hopefully he'll be ok soon too

A-G,I get my Slippery Elm from a Health-Food store, mine is from "Natures Way".
I usually sprinkle half a 370mg capsule on the food, don't know if that's enough though?

I think there's a lot of funky stuff going on with nature. My allergies are just driving me nuts, and I've talked to other people who are feeling the same.

From the sound of it, it seems like they all just caught the same bug. At least it didn't last long and they are all on the mend, so that's good.

I'm going to have a look at Whole Foods. I know I've seen packages of it, but I'll look for capsules. I'd like to have some handy, just in case! Half a capsule seems like a good starting point.
