Dogs really do pick their owners...

Ok let me give some back ground here then get to the juicy part. Growing up we had a black lab. She was an amazing dog she died at 16 years old (10 years ago) in her sleep and my parents said no more dogs not because they didn't like dogs but because they were so sad at her death... now a few years ago they were supposed to have a chocolate lab shipped to them from a breeder and lets just say that fell through.... now fast forward to this past month. My sister and her bf were out walking like they do every day and for about 4 days straight they say the same puppy in this empty lot. So they brought the puppy home and tried to find it owners even went door to door in the area, called the hs and vets and everything... after a few weeks of no claiming the dog my parents said they would keep it!!! Well lets say that this is the greatest puppy ever. We think it is a black lab mixed with a husky or a collie. My bella *who just turned 1 this weekend* is having a blast with my parents dog and they make the best playmates. I am just so happy that this dog found such an amazing home and it makes me so sad to think what could of happened if the dog was left out.

What a wonderful story, maneater . I do indeed believe most dogs choose their guardians if given the opportunity. Congrats to your family.

Umm, any chance we'll get pics of Bella and her new pal playing ?

so a strange thing happened today. My sister was walking the dog and stopped to get a coffee. A lady came up to her and asked her where she got the dog. She told her that she found and and couldn't find the owners so they kept it. The lady said that her dogs had a litter of puppies and she gave the dog to a guy who was supposed to find it a home. Ranger has a big white W on his chest. which is why he is called ranger white and it is a very distinctive marking. the dog was found in the area where the guy lived so she is guessing he couldn't find a home for it and just let it go. My sister gave her an ear full about getting her dogs fixed and what could of happened to the puppy if the bears or coyotes got to him since he was found in an area where bears and coyotes are seen daily and people are advised not to walk the paths with their dogs off leash because their have been attacks. I guess the lady felt really bad after but was glad the dog found a good home. She found out he is a lab/husky golden retriever mix. I just think he is the best thing ever.

Good for your sister! When I first started reading this, I was expecting the woman wanting Ranger back...phew! what your sister said will give her some food for thought and she'll get her butt in gear and have her dogs fixed.

ya when my mom called me and told me that my sister talked to the original "owner" of ranger my heart sank. But then she told me what she said and i was like good. He deserves to be with you. So Ranger is a lucky dog. If only all abandoned dogs stories turned out this good.
