Calgary cats going to jail / Flood pics

Well this is the worst flooding I have ever seen in the city...and it came on so fast! Parts of the zoo had to be evacuated last night....some of the big cats, if you can believe it have been transfered to holding cells in the Calgary courts building!! .Now that is a first I am sure. Oficials are asking that no one go into the downtown city center as there is flooding down there, Schools are closed, many roads are shut down, and transit is affected. The list of communities in the city that have been evacuated is as long as your arm. More rain to come today , they say the rivers have crested, but if upstream communities have to release water thru their spillways it could get pretty nasty!

They are now saying the cats have not been moved yet but that is the plan if the water gets any higher at the cat enclosures at the zoo.
This is one of the arteries into city center....there is actually and upper and lower bridge deck, but as you can see the lower deck is under water.
This where our Calgary Stampede ...which starts in a couple weeks...is held. This is a shot of our Trans Canada highway about an hour drive west washed out in both directions

Holy!! My Mom said this morning, aren't you glad we didn't move to Calgary!? Well, I'd still like to live there! Just now I'll know what areas to NOT live in!

In all the years I have been in Canada, I have never seen anything as bad as this. You know, we are used to (in a way) to see it on the news on other countries where it happens often, and then all of the sudden it hits you, it can happen anywhere at any time!

Stay safe!
