very young cat is expecting

we rescued a very young cat maybe only 4-5 months old and she is pregnant. we are worried that she is to young to have kittens and will not be able to have them and care for them or even worse it will kill her. this is our first experience with a litter and was unexpected when we brought her home. any advice or comments would help out! thanks in advance.

The only advice I have for you is to bring her to your vet and ask if it's better to abort. She really needs to see a vet very very soon.

I also agree to have her spayed and the kittens aborted right away. She is much too young to be a mom. :frown:

Good luck at the vet , I sure hope it's early enough for your vet to abort and he could spay her at the same time. Keep us posted.

went to the vet fri, and found out sissy is actually 2 yrs old or more, she's just not been fed correctly. from her apperecne she is the size of a 6 month old but by her teeth she's two. she is due to have her litter in 2-3 weeks so it's to late to do anything for her. the vet said she should be ok, but will not be comfy. looks like i need to do so research on moms and babies. this will be my first with kittens. i own 2 ball pythons and breed my own rats, so i how to do that and what to expect. any pointers would be helpful, if you could send them my way.

Oh poor thing, I've rescued little cats as well, they are now bruisers! With good nutrition, she will have a growth spurt, it takes a few weeks to get underway - might be a bit delayed by the birth - but she will actually grow before your eyes. It's lovely to see.
You have 2-3 weeks to build up her strength for the birth. Plenty of good food and a quiet place to have her kittens are what she needs. She'll probably be fine, but have the vet on speed dial just in case.

update: sissy had her first kitten at 11:30am and the next one about 20 min. after, she's had another 4 hrs. later and yet the 4th 4hrs. after that. we hope she's done now, the poor thing is so tired. but she's a trooper! she's nursing all and all is well for now.

What a long day! How is she making out now? I can usually feel any kittens that are still inside by this point.

Good luck and congrats on the new little ones. Although it's been tough for Sissy, this is the easy stuff for you. Just wait until the kittens are walking!
