Hearth Mouse has taken over the Great Room.
My wife was watching the goings on of a wild mouse yesterday as it walked about the perimiter of our great room fireplace.
Our great room has one wall that is entirely covered with and built out of creek stone, including a lareg fireplace. The raised hearth of the fireplace runs the length of the room and yesterday a field mouse was observed running around the hearth looking at everything and then scooting back into the rocks. The strange thing is our three Siamese cats just sat there and watched and made no attempt to apprehend the intruder. In years past they would have attacked and caught the plaything in record time. Now, for some reason, they have no interest in this and just watch as the mouse takes free run of the house. We will have to have a refresher course on "mouse catching techniques 101". Woody |

Awww Woody, our modern cats are just to hoity toity to kill mice
We have field-mice in our shed and they have built nests in everything over the years,snow-blower,leaf-blower,lawnmover etc... My cats catch them, but never draw blood, they would not want to get messy Instead they play with the poor little terrified mice, whom I find cute and hubby has to"rescue"the mouse for me,unwillingly I should add, since they have destroyed so much.

Woody you described our great room to a tee!! Cool!!
We have that same problem to, they always come in there once a year. We even built up the ground and packed it in around the fireplace outside. It has to be the fireplace doesn't it? My husband figures we might need to get a good barn cat because there is no way a cat can live in our house. The only other solution so far is mouse traps. BTW as to your peacock problem maybe you should go out and strut your self for the peacocks and show them who really owns that area. I can already see you acting like a chicken.LOL |

Chicken Struting???
We native southern boys only do that after consuming too much alcohol and donning a lamp shade. Never when sober...LOL
